Let's Say YES to Books and Fabrics!

Assalamualaikum and Hello all,
It's Monday and I'm ready to rock the desk!

I've experimented a lot, lately, with papers, board and all yummy fabrics that I've collected so far. I just can't get enough time to blog about these all. Fabrics are totally inspiring me to do more than just covering my books. It's a good thing and I'll treat that as a therapy!

I'm sharing handbound books that I made using crafts papers, binding thread, board, and fabrics as the book covers, also with elastic band as the closure and cute charm as the bookmark. Experimenting phase are great time to mix and match patterns, and try to create good looking books.

These are A6 handbound books with elastic band closure, from front (above) and back (below) view. I love the stars and the houses, that's why I use them a lot in my book project. Yeehoo!

“Make it a rule never to give a child a book you would not read yourself"
~ George Bernard Shaw ~

I made these too, earlier and I realized that I forgot to attached the book closure. My bad, but that's why I call it experimenting phase. A lot to practice and a lot to get used to -_-

“You don't love someone because they're perfect,
you love them in spite of the fact that they're not”
~ Jodi Picoult ~

Oh by the way, I always use polka dot fabrics in my project. They're simply my best choice when I get stuck, boring or confused. They're always adorable. Don't you think so?

I bet you can see the differences between all stitches, from the picture. But you can read more, HERE

All shots are taken somewhere at Kampung Bagan Buaya, Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang. I enjoy snapping pictures here, on a classic wooden bench. How I miss my old bench that was once my favorite place when I was a child. It was a cool village, with small river, goats and chickens around. I really hope you enjoy all pictures, 'cause I really put my full effort into it, YEAH ^_^

~ Mark Twain ~

Before I end my post, I'd like to share some old pictures (part of my journey as a bookbinder) that you may find on my Instagram and FB page. They're maybe old, but they're inspired me everyday. I hope you enjoy!

For more random pictures of my journey, you may follow me, get updated and stay connected.
That's all for now, have a blissful Monday!
Thank you.

It's Plain, It's Simple, It's Lemon

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Good Day,

ALHAMDULILLAH, first and exclusive! It's a PLAIN handbound book for DIY: 'Decorate It Yourself'. Special made for those who loves to DIY! It's nice, simple and I think it's PERFECT as a notebook, diary and also personalized GIFT that you can decorate yourself.

I'm using coptic stitching for the book and basically, all signatures are stitched together with the book covers. It holds everything together tightly, but with super flexibility. The pages will open up completely flat without risk of damage to the spine and that’s why this method is so popular.

“So the freshness lives on in a lemon,
in the sweet-smelling house of the rind,
the proportions, arcane and acerb”
~ Pablo Neruda ~

"Love is like Lemons"

“Life itself is simple. It's just not easy.”
~ Steve Maraboli ~

I like seeing how the book lies completely open when flat on surface. That is one of the benefits of binding this way. We can see the entire page and most people find it's great to write and work in.

"Pastel colors are best for notebook. It helps you find your mood while writing notes,
and make you smile too just when you read it back"
~ craftyanathirah ~

I recommend people to be creative and please think out of the box. You can decorate your plain notebooks with quilling decorations or almost everything possible to personalized the book itself. THE SKY IS THE LIMIT.

I hope you like my version of plain handbound books. I love using anything simple and easy to found. It really doesn't need to trouble yourself when you're in mood of crafting. Make yourself comfortable and you'll find happiness in everything you do.

Thank you and Have a blissful days ahead!

POLKA Dots Are Back!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Happy Sunday,

These beautiful dots are back (^_^) If you could remember my older post entitled 'It's Round, It's Real, It's Polka Dot', showing beautiful dots on a book, with colorful pages and colorful binding thread, you may recognize this too.

I just love these beautiful, fancy and friendly colors of dots! I'll never get bored (o_o)

I'm using lemon and lime colored thread this time and I think the colors of the thread are really popping up with the white pages, and the dots are looking more festive in bigger size book.

It's a A4 size handbound book with 200 white pages (^__^)

I think that's all for now.
Thank you and have a blissful stay!

Handbound Books: BROWN + TURQUOISE

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone,

Did I tell you that Brown Series are always my favorite book covers on top of all? Plus, with extra quirky and nice patterns on it? I wouldn't say NO. I think I've addicted to all kind of recycle papers, and I know that they're always my first things I'll look for whenever I want something NATURAL and SIMPLE for my creation.

It's a A6 size, brown - turquoise handbound book (o_o)

“I’ll write the word blue in green and when I ask you what color it is,
the proper response is turquoise”
~ Jarod Kintz ~

I think I've dislike turquoise for no reason. I totally fall in love with this brown-turquoise book, right after snapping pictures of it. Oh, this is serious. I fall for the stars and the dots too.

"Turquoise is my birthstone, I'm a Sagittarius"
~ Zoe Kravitz ~

The stars, dots, colorful pages and the pink-turquoise thread match really well. This is one of my favorite part of being a paper-crafts lover and a photographer. It feels different when I see my creation again through camera lenses, I fall for my handwork once again.

"During summer or charity games I'll wear my bright orange or green or turquoise ones
and guys are always like, 'Why are your shoes so bright?"
~ James Harden ~

See you in next post.
Thank you & have a blissful day!

It's Round, It's Real, It's Polka Dot!

Assalamualaikum and Good Day!

Polka dots are back in STYLE, and they're showing up on everything from scarves to blouses, to shoes to smartphone cases, children's clothing, toys and even furniture. All these beautiful dots would be my favorite pattern of the year. They always look simple, clean, fresh and festive!

"I don't think there is ever a wrong time for a polka dot."
~ Marc Jacobs ~

I just love how the fancy colorful dots fascinate us from the first time we look at it. I'm using combination of red and bright yellow threads for the book, and I'm telling myself not to be afraid to use other nicest colors in the world. It'll surely look different and this 'experimenting' phase would be the BEST teacher of the rest!

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."
~ Maya Angelou ~

"I can spot a polka dot dress from hundreds of circles away."
~ Jarod Kintz ~

"A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colorful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots become movement. Polka dots are a way to infinity."
~ Yayoi Kusama ~

It's a A5 polka dots handbound book ^_^

That's all for today. Feel free to leave comments if you like my post.
Enjoy your stay and have a blissful December!
Thank you.
