Simply, Friendly, Birthday Wishes!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Good Morning,

YES, I got to admit it. This is my favorite birthday card that I made so far. It may not as hard as typography quilling, not as good as trishutter card and surely not as strong as easel card, but I really love this card for how simple the card is and how much time it took for me to get the idea of making it look this way.

And for the reason, I hardly let go of this one! A card with very friendly colors. It's great to put little things up, here and there, combines all things possible to make it right. I use almost everything that matches, from my stash. It's like a SCRAP challenge for me and I got to finish it on time.

To be honest, I rarely choose blue (of any kind) or blue-like papers or pattern to work on but everything happened to blend well this time. I really like my turquoise card stock that I bought long ago and I really want it to match the vintage dark yellow pattern papers that I found from my collection. So I added more papers of close tones, white and brown fans, blue roses and yellow daisy, also white bows, banner and pearl.

“I’ll write the word blue in green and when I ask you what color it is,
the proper response is turquoise”
~ Jarod Kintz ~

It is super not-easy to manually cut all those circles, but that is the sweet way of creating different patterns on card, with less tools and less materials.

"If you LOVE someone, put their name in a CIRCLE,
not a heart, a heart can be broken, but a circle goes on forever"

"Do what you can, with what you have, not what you need"

My favorite part of this card is the white 'frame' that I made using Belinda's Borders stamp set from LAWN FAWN, such a very sudden idea that turned out to be PERFECT and also the white fan and blue roses had balanced everything. OKAY!

A very short, simple and quick note to get a date (^___^)

LAST but not LEAST,

I think that's all for now.
Thank you all and have a blissful day!

Typography Quilling: Happy Birthday!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Hello all,

"LOVE builds the warmest nests"
So true, isn't it?

I guess this post would be my first post of less words written here. It happens when I don't really have things to say, several pictures of lovely card would be enough, perhaps (^___^) I'm sharing another birthday card that I made with typography quilling on top of card, along with roses and bugs.

"This lucky little lady bug
has landed here to stay,
To make my garden pretty
and keep the weeds away"

“Embossed letters represent the topography of typography. ”

A Malay saying equates the ladybird (KUMBANG) as the MAN and flowers (BUNGA) as the WOMEN itself and it says "Laksana KUMBANG menyeri bunga, KUMBANG terbang, BUNGA pun layu" tells us that "It's MAN that lighten WOMEN, and women soon be faded as the MAN went away"

"Lovely little ladybug
sent from heaven above
please watch over my garden
and fill it up with love."

A cute 'to-do' list attached inside the card as a quick dating invitation (^___^)

"KESAYANGAN" is a Malay word refers to your beloved.

"Ladybugs all dressed in red
Strolling through the flowerbed.
If I were tiny just like you
I'd creep among the flowers too!"
~Maria Fleming~

To be continued in my next post. Thank you.

Simply Handmade Frames

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Happy Weekend,

I'm sharing my FAVORITE handmade frames, that I officially launched by end of 2013 (^__^) Oh, I'm so sorry for not posting this earlier, hate to be so behind schedule of everything. By the way, craftyanathirah is now on instagram, kindly follow for more friendly updates, yeay!

Handmade frames are great for HOME decors as well as special GIFTS to your loved one. SIMPLE, NICE, yet ADORABLE. Similar to regular picture frames, handmade frames are created to be functional, same way too. Photos are inserted from back and can be changed any time you want.

LANDSCAPE VIEW

So far, I chose WHITE as their background color, as it looks clean, fresh and pure. There's always good reason to experiment with other colors too. I'm using mounting board as the frame basic, before covering it up with white craft paper. Any white paper would be suitable I think.

"We are not permitted to choose the frame of our destiny.
But what we put into it is ours"
~ Dag Hammarskjold ~

I have said that black has it all. White too.
Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”
~ Coco Chanel ~

~ Martin Scorsese ~

I think Malaysian quilling flowers looks best from this side of view (o__o)

Feeling GREAT after completing all frames, even there were so much imperfections thru the process. Sure, there were lessons & mistakes that taught us BEST. I'm working on PLAIN HANDMADE FRAME so that you can 'DIY' - DECORATE IT YOURSELF. I can't wait to update soon, busy days awaiting.

Thank you all and have a blissful weekend.

Seriously Typography!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Good Day everyone,

It's like a dream comes true when I finally have courage to trust my fingers in typography quilling. It is hard to actually build the confidence to finish someone's birthday card and proudly present it here. This is seriously my first time making it look this way.

“Embossed letters represent the topography of typography.
”

I cut all strips manually and spend so much time choosing right font to make it possible. I doubt myself and was really trembling, can't stop myself asking "do I do it right?" "why my alpha looks weird?" "is it okay if I put this here?" "should I do it this way?" ooohhh, on and on and on, so much to write here.

I believe that everything begins at first time, if not now, then when it would be?

"No one can possibly know what is about to happen,
it is happening, each time, for the first time, for the only time"
~ James A. Baldwin ~

Forgive me when you see imperfection and so much of flaws here and there, I have to say that all the flaws and imperfection is an art too, it is a handmade after all...LOL. By the way, I did beehive quilling, to fill the upper side of the alpha, along with arranged strips at lower side of the alphas to create uniformity for the card.

“Typography is the craft of endowing human language with a durable visual form.”
~ Robert Bringhurst, The Elements of Typographic Style ~

Final touch! I love using linen sheets to create natural mood to the card, it looks so much like grass and believe me, I did try to add some embellishments onto it but nothing can wow me. It looks much better without them.

Thanks so much for spending time here, see you in next post.
Happy weekend and have a blissful day!

Because I love doing what I'm doing!

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone...

Looking back at all the pictures of my past, oh how I miss creating mini cards like this! While I'm busy making cards and gifts with a lot of quilling flowers and learning some new techniques, I took some times to look back on cards I did long ago, when I was eagerly, creating cards for my husband (he was my fiancĂ©e that time :p), brothers and sisters, just to show them what I got, hoping for some compliments I guess...ho ho.

These are some of my lovely cards of my collection, not too bad I think, hehe :p

I got too excited when I had clear stamps in my hand for the first time. I just cant stop myself from making cards, and always searching for ideas to make a nicer and better card, just to be added to my collection..that was why I spent most of my time at stationary shop, just to find a perfect paper! :p

My husband once told me that no matter how bad I think my card was, it was the start of what I love doing, I should not forget those days when I had limited tools in my hand and I struggled with everything possible on my desk, just to make a nice card that I'll proud of it. He was absolutely right and I thank him a lot for his thought. Thank you dear!

I've sold a lot of them at school. It's actually hard to believe that most of primary and secondary students love handmade cards and they were nice and supportive enough to buy these cards from me. I feel really appreciated when they're often requested for special cards for their special one, with sweet and cute sentiments on the cards.

I'm always grateful for people around me who also love handmade cards and support me to create more and more cards everyday. I pray that all the crafts' desires and passion won't go away and I will keep doing what I love doing and soon teach my kids all I know. Well I hope my kids will love crafting too...hehe :p

I think that's all for now. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that you too will enjoy crafting and please be free to share your ideas and comments.

Have a blissful day!
