Wedding Guestbook: Amirah & Baihaqi

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone,

This is actually my 1st try on wedding guestbook. Thanks a bunch for my dearie friend, Amirah for her support & trust, she actually took a risk when she requested me a wedding guestbook, something that I'm not familiar with.

This is a great chance for me to experiment more & I challenge myself to do the best I could to satisfy her, a close friend & a customer too. They're getting married tomorrow & I hope everything goes well.

By the way, I'm using crepe paper for the book cover and 110gsm paper for its body. Crepe paper is easy to handle and it looks best for its crepe-look, like bark of tree (^,~) The book is bound with Japanese binding style, using plain white cotton thread. You may learn on how to Japanese binding here. And for the quilled roses,  I learned how to fold paper roses by watching this video.

"The red rose whispers of passion, and the white rose breathes of love; O, the red rose is a falcon, and the white rose is a dove; but I send you a cream-white rose bud, With a flush on its petal tips; for the love that is purest and sweetest, has a kiss of desire on its lips."

That's all for now, happy Friday everyone!

Thank you!

Handbound Books: I'm getting used to it!

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone,

Another post for handbound books. Still coptic binding but I'm using 2 colors of thread this time and I'm happy with the results (^,~)

The owner of these books prefers 12 signatures (presented by lines of colors) for 12 chapters and 8 signatures for 8 chapters of subjects she learns at school. Smart way to memorize notes, I think.

There's a lot of  paper choices for the book covers but recycle wrappers are most popular for its natural look. I even fall for them 10 times a day. Huh.

and make you smile too just when you read it back"

That's all for now, I'll be back with more entries soon.
Have a blissful day. Thank you.

Handbound Books: Japanese Binding

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. & Hello everyone,

This is another handbound books that I made using recycle paper and YES, I love it! I fall in love with the little starfish when I found this recycle paper. Nice hah? the love of the ocean (^,~)

I'm practicing japanese binding this time, and I'm satisfied, I guess. At least for now (o_o)

I purposely stitch the book in landscape mode so that it works as a sketch book, a perfect gift for someone that loves to sketch ideas! An artist!

“It was amazing what an hour with her sketchpad could do for her mood. She was sure that the lines she drew with her black marker were going to save her years of worry lines in the future.”

Anyway, this video helps me a lot. Watch it if you're planning on stitching your own books. They have lots of tips too! If you have limited tools in your hand, don't worry dearies! They also have solutions for tools substitutes.

That's all for now. Drop me comments if you find this post helps ya!
Happy crafting & Have a blissful day!
